9 Ιουλίου 1821 : Ο Τούρκος κυβερνήτης Κιουτσούκ Μεχμέτ υπό τον φόβο της επανάστασης πνίγει στο αίμα την Κύπρο. Απαγχονίστηκε ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος της Κύπρου Κυπριανός, αποκεφαλίστηκαν οι Μητροπολίτες Πάφου, Κιτίου και Κυρήνειας ενώ κατακρεουργήθηκαν πολλοί από τους προκρίτους στις φυλακές.  Πιο αναλυτικά  : 9η Ιουλίου σήμερα και στη μνήμη μας έρχεται ο απαγχονισμός του Αρχιεπισκόπου Κύπρου Κυπριανού και ο σφαγιασμός άλλων 486 επισκόπων, κληρικών και προκρίτων της Κύπρου το 1821 από τους Τούρκους.  Τα λόγια του Αρχιεπισκόπου προς τον τούρκο Διοικητή μένουν ανεξίτηλα στη μνήμη μας: «Η Ρωμιοσύνη εν φυλή…
