The strategy for dealing with Trump and U.S. politics has been disastrously bad from the start.
Here are 5 key steps he should take immediately:
1/ Stop the press conferences. Take a step back, evaluate what went wrong, and recalibrate. Trump wants public praise—find a way to deliver it without looking weak. It’s not too late.
2/ Speak to U.S. right-wing and alternative media. Vogue covers may be prestigious abroad, but they hold little weight in the U.S. political landscape. Zelenskyy needs to engage the media that influences Trump’s base.
3/ Engage Turkey. Turkey has been vocal about Ukraine’s NATO membership and is open to sending peacekeepers.

4/ Address the “Democrat asset” narrative. A major chunk of MAGA world believes Zelenskyy is a tool of the left. Ignoring this won’t make it go away—it needs to be confronted head-on.
5/ Enforce total transparency on aid. Every press release should include hard numbers. Americans are skeptical of where their money is going, and the only way to win trust is with relentless transparency.
This is salvageable, but only if Zelenskyy stops playing the game on his advisors’ terms and starts playing it on America’s.
